Fil-Kiwi Mark Abelardo loses to Brazil's Andrade in ONE return

Mark Abelardo goes to sleep against Brazilian foe in ONE Championship's return
Jul 31, 2020

FABRICIO Andrade made Mark Abelardo sleep in their 67kg joust in the undercard of ONE: No Surrender on Friday at Impact Arena in Bangkok.

The Brazilian fighter had the perfect counter to his Fil-Kiwi foe, reversing a sprawl to a rear-naked choke to take the technical submission victory at the 1:14 mark of the second round.

Andrade's reach advantage was in full display early on, fending off Abelardo's attempts to take him down in round one.

He went on the prowl in the second round, conecting on a jumping left knee which put Andrade in the perfect position for the RNC.

It was a bitter return for Abelardo, who fell to 19-8 after his second straight loss. He was also defeated by Troy Worthen last February.

Andrade, meanwhile, rose to 3-2 in his MMA career after the Asian promotion's first event since the global COVID-19 forced a cancellation of its events.
