EXPECT two-sport World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao to be on his toes when he defends his One strawweight Muay Thai title against Josh “Timebomb” Tonna in the main event of One: Reign of Dynasties on Friday in Singapore.

Although Team Lakay’s Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang believes that Tonna can give the World Champion from Thailand a run for his money, he sees Sam-A walking away with the win.

“Watching Tonna’s previous fights, he has an aggressive forward pressure, and one thing I like about him is he uses his boxing well and has solid combinations that could give the champion problems because that’s one weakness of Sam-A,” Adiwang said.

“In Sam-A’s previous fights, I saw him struggle dealing with a good puncher, so that’s one key for Tonna in this fight.

“He will have to put pressure on Sam-A and connect with power punches, especially if they use 4 oz. gloves.”

“He should not let Sam-A dictate the fight. He’s a champion for a reason. He’s very good with the counter,” Adiwang said, confident Sam-A will walk out of Singapore with the strap given his experience in the weight class and in big matches in general.

“Let’s also not forget that this is in the strawweight division, so for sure Tonna will need to cut some weight, and this is the weight class where Sam-A truly shines,” Adiwang said.

“He is stronger in this weight and that’s why I am going for Sam-A in this match” he added. “I see them going the distance with Sam-A retaining his belt by unanimous decision.”
