LITO Adiwang made it two in a row in ONE Championship and he made it quick.
“Thunder Kid” needed only 34 seconds to finish off Eko Roni Saputra in their 140-pound catchweight bout at ONE Fight Night 43 on Saturday inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Adiwang caught Saputra with a grazing right hand quickly before unleashing his signature barrage on the Indonesian, throwing hooks and body shots on the stunned Saputra.
Saputra had a brief time to recover, but instead of exiting the exchange he decided to throw punches in return – a decision that would cost him the match as the Filipino spitfire simply mauled him forcing referee Olivier Coste to stop the fight.
Lito to stay in flyweight
While this match was fought in a catchweight at 140 given its short notice, Adiwang said he plans to stay at flyweight (135 lbs) for the foreseeable future.
“I only showed that I can hang with the bantamweights, but I am going to hunt for that belt in the flyweight division. There’s a new kid in town in the flyweight division,” Adiwang said.
“I want a top five flyweight next. I want Hu Yong, let’s go!”
The win improved Adiwang’s record to 18-6, with the TKO finish being his 10th. It was also the Baguio native’s fifth win in six matches since returning from an ACL injury.
