JOSHUA Pacio was unsuccessful in his bid to claim the ONE Championship strawweight title after losing to Yoshitaka Naito of Japan in the third round of ONE: State of Warriors in Yangon, Myanmar on Friday night.
Pacio put on a gallant stand as a challenger before tapping out after a rear naked choke by Naito to retain the crown.
Pacio was able to escape from takedown attempts by Naito early in the bout before the Filipino fighter from Team Lakay was forced into submission.
It was the first loss in nine bouts for the 20-year-old Pacio.
Meanwhile, Filipino bantamweight Kevin Belingon won a unanimous decision over Muin Gafurov of Tajikistan to improve his mark to 14-5.
