BANGKOK – Two Filipino fighters suffered brutal losses in the undercard of ONE: Warriors of the World as Jimmy Yabo and Rabin Catalan fell against their respective foes Saturday at the Impact Arena here.
Yabo fought bravely early on, but ultimately yielded after catching a devastating knee to the rib cage against muay thai specialist Sagetdao Petpayathai in the first round.
Yabo gamely exchanged with the multiple time muay thai world champion, but eventually got deck as Petpayathai dropped him with a single knee from the clinch position, two minutes and 44 seconds into their bout.
The Filipino lost his sixth fight in seven outings to drop at 5-6, while Petpayathai improved to 3-0.
Catalan meanwhile, got dominated on all aspects of the fight as he fell prey to impressive Thai wrestler Kritsada Kongsrichai via TKO due to strikes also in the first round of their preliminary card match-up.
Catalan looked several steps behind from his Thai foe as he got outclass on the feet in the early goings, receiving multiple knees and kicks before he tried to take the fight to the ground.
That proved to be a mistake as Kongsrichai countered the takedown and transitioned to the full mount, before landing an elbow after elbow on the hapless Pinoy fighter.
The referee stopped the fight at the 3:01 mark as Catalan fell to an even 4-4 mark, while Kongsrichai improved to 6-3.
