JENEL Lausa begins his road to redempion at Brave CF 47: Asian Domination against Afghan foe Rahmatullah Yousufzai on March 11 in Bahrain.
This will mark the return of the former UFC signee inside the cage since June 2018.
"I aim to win my debut fight and the next fights after that. I dream to continue winning and bounce back from the setbacks that I experienced," said the 32-year-old Lausa.
"Being in the MMA world once again puts a big smile on my face. I am grateful for the opportunity that Brave CF has given me."
Lausa has a huge chip on his shoulder after suffering defeats in his last three fights under the UFC banner, with his last a second-round submission defeat to Ulka Sasaki at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Edwards in Singapore.
Tough as that stretch was for the Concepcion, Iloilo native, Lausa thinks that this is just the necessary reboot he needs in his career.
"I believe this my second chance to prove myself in the mixed martial arts industry. This is also a chance for me to substantiate that I have definitely learned from my shortcomings in my past MMA fights," said Lausa, who sports a 7-5 card.
The Demolition Man's path, however, won't be a walk in the park as he takes on Yousufzai, an undefeated prospect who owns a pristine 4-0 slate with two knockout wins.
His Afghan foe impressed in his last outing, a 42-second knockout of Abdulmanap Magomedov which earned him the 2020 Brave CF Knockout of the Year award.
"I have seen his fights and I have read articles about him. He is a good fighter," he said, wary of the danger his opponent poses.
"We are both strikers, so he will probably strike with me. But at the same time, I don’t want to underestimate his ground game, so I am also preparing for that aspect. With a winning streak like that, of course, I will have to double my efforts. It definitely motivates me."
