THE moment Islay Erika Bomogao landed a perfectly timed body shot against Narea Rubio, everything changed for the 24-year-old Filipina fighter.
What had been building through two previous unanimous decision victories suddenly crystallized into her most emphatic statement yet in ONE Championship – a first-round knockout that sent Rubio crumbling to the canvas at ONE Friday Fights 111 on June 6 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
For Bomogao, the finish represented more than her first knockout victory in the promotion. It validated the power she'd been working to develop throughout her professional transition.
"I wasn't specifically targeting the body," Bomogao said when asked about the decisive strike.
"The gameplan was to target everything – head, body, legs. I must deal every strike with power. I saw an opportunity for a clean shot, and I took it."

"It's been an intense whirlwind. It's all about staying disciplined and having a strong support system," she said, crediting both Team Bagsik and the Muay Thai Association of the Philippines for their guidance.
"Then meticulous planning is important when it comes to training, program, nutrition, rest, and recovery time."
As she continues establishing herself as ONE's first homegrown Filipino Muay Thai contender, this knockout victory serves as proof her power can match her technical skills – a combination that makes her increasingly dangerous as she climbs the ranks.
