UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm has signed a contract with a company that makes supplements containing substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, which makes supplements containing DMAA, has signed Holm to two-year endorsement.
The Food and Drug Administration in 2013 said DMAA poses potentially serious health risks.
Holm is pictured in an ad with five bottled Hi-Tech products, three of which are advertised as containing DMAA according to USA Today.
“Holly Holm is a great UFC champion and a role model for the sport of mixed martial arts,’’ UFC said in a statement issued to USA TODAY Sports.
“The UFC organization has not researched the company that is sponsoring Holm, and UFC does not condone any athlete that uses a substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List.’’
Holly Holm won the UFC title with a second-round knockout of Ronda Rousey in November.
All of Holm’s seven drug tests at UFC were negative.
