GEJE Eustaquio once again proved that he's the king of rematches, dropping Toni Tauru in the third round at ONE: Masters of Fate Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The former ONE Flyweight World Champion connected on a killer spinning heel kick that landed square on the side of his Finnish foe to end the match at the 2:11 mark of the third round.
Eustaquio escaped an early scare after Tauru brought the bout to the ground in the first round and attempted to lock in a rear-naked choke. But the 30-year-old wiggled out of the hold and kept the fight standing in the succeeding rounds.
The Team Lakay veteran tested the standup game of Tauru before finally landing the killer shot, one he attributed to his stablemate Kevin Belingon.
"I was inspired by his spinning back kick. We kept on repeating that in the gym and we tried it a thousand times," said Eustaquio, whose record improved to 13-8.
The Igorot warrior also redeemed himself after losing to Tauru in their first meeting in December 2016, where he tapped out to a rear naked choke in the first round.
Eustaquio also took the chance to silence the Benguet stable's doubters, saying: "To all the Team Lakay bashers, what about that?"
Tauru continued his downward spiral, suffering his fourth straight defeat to drop to 11-8-1.
