ADRIANO Moraes wrested the ONE flyweight championship as he ended his trilogy against Geje Eustaquio with a stunning victory in the main event of ONE: Hero's Ascent on Friday night at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Igorot warrior displayed his impeccable striking skills and improved grappling defense, but it was the Brazilian challenger who got the nod of the judges via unanimous decision to become a three-time division champion.

Moraes gained points from his unique submission hold in the fourth round when he locked Eustaquio's left leg behind his head as the deposed champion struggled for a way out.

This was the second title Team Lakay has lost in a span of just six days, just after Joshua Pacio relinguished his ONE Strawweight Championship to Yosuke Saruta last Saturday in Jakarta.

Moraes improved to a 18-3 record as Eustaquio fell to 11-7, ending his two-fight win streak.

Sensing the champion gaining the upper hand, "Mikinho" took the fight to the ground in the second round. Eustaquio was prepared as he slipped out of danger and still got a pair of elbows midway through the round before trying to lock a D'Arce choke in the waning moments.

Eustaquio would keep the fight standing up in the third and fourth rounds, preventing Moraes' numerous takedown attempts.

The challenger found some success in Round Four as he tried to put pressure on the champ's left leg, yet the Team Lakay bet did get out of the hold in the final minute.

A desperate Moraes came out in the fifth round, taking the fight to the ground, but Eustaquio still found ways to frustrate his foe, locking in a guillotine choke as the Brazilian tried to score a finish before the final bell.

However, the judges saw it differently.
