EDUARD “The Landslide” Folayang is thrilled to make his much-anticipated comeback fight on home soil as he takes on Russian Aziz Pahrudinov in ONE Championship: Reign of Kings on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The last time he fought in the country, Folayang was knocked out by Martin Nguyen in Round 2 and lost the Lightweight Championship in ONE 65: Legends of the World November last year.

He managed to bounce back this year, beating Kharun Atlangeriev via unanimous decision in ONE 73: Unstoppable Dreams last May in Singapore.

Almost a year after his downfall on home soil, Folayang is still bringing the huge lesson he got from that loss and he seeks to redeem himself in front of his beloved Filipino crowd.

“Ganyan talaga ang buhay. You will not always be winning, sometimes the greatest lessons come from losing,” said the 34-year-old fighter, who has 19 wins and six losses.

“Nasa sa atin naman kung paano tayo mag-rise up sa failures natin doon sa mga event, sa mga night na natalo tayo so kung paano natin kung paano natin pagbubutihin yung mga susunod nating laban," he added.

The pride of Team Lakay and Baguio City is facing the undefeated Pahrudinov, who has 20 wins and a draw, and is making his debut in a three-round lightweight fight in Bout 8 of ONE Reign of Kings.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to be making my ONE Championship debut this Friday night,” Pahrudinov said. “Facing a veteran and a former champion in Eduard Folayang in my debut is a tough challenge, but I have prepared very well for this bout and I will leave the arena as the winner.”

For Folayang, he is eyeing to prove that he deserves another title shot as he tries to emerge victorious once again in front of his countrymen on Friday.

“Getting to the top is very hard, but once you are there, it’s a great feeling. I am determined to get back to the top. I can face every opponent, whether they are undefeated or not,” the Landslide said.

“I am willing to go in there and go to work. I am working very hard on improving all aspects of my game with my teammates at Team Lakay. Every victory brings me closer to the title again. This time is no different. I will defeat Aziz Pahrudinov and make my way back to the top,” he concluded.
