EV Ting has beaten six Filipino fighters but admitted he has not faced someone who's as good as ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang.

The Malaysian-New Zealander also praised Folayang for his improvements through the years, but has no doubt he will emerge winner when they clash in One: Kings of Destiny on April 21 at the MOA Arena.

"I'm prepared for the best version of Eduard Folayang," Ting said.

"I would say he's a prototype of the Filipinos I have faced," he added.

"He's obviously adapted his game, he has improved every single fight, and he has something more to fight for, especially here in his hometown, so a lot of respect to the champion," he added.

The 27-year-old Ting actually credits Folayang and Team Lakay for the improvement of Filipino fighters, although he managed to stop Folayang's stablemate and former featherweight champion Honorio Banario in just one round.

"Earlier in my career, I felt that Filipino fighters were quite one-dimensional, they really favored their boxing and wushu style," he said.

"With Eduard Folayang and the Team Lakay guys, they're really mixing it all together and they have proved that, I think maybe they're 20-0 at the moment, so they're doing great things in the gym," he added.

But all that respect and admiration will be thrown out of the window once Ting and Folayang meet inside the cage.

For Ting, all those years of hardwork and sacrifices has groomed him to finally claim a world title.

"I feel like I have done everything in my career, I took no shortcuts, I overcame all my injuries, I overcame all my fights, I did everything my coach asked of me, I did every media obligation, asked of me, I think it's time get what I'm owed."
