FRIDAY just won't be like any other fightcard for brothers Eric and Edward Kelly.
For only the second time in their careers, they will both hit the cage in one night.
Eric (12-6) tests his mettle against Kwon Won Il (6-1), as Edward (11-6) takes on Sung Jong Lee (2-4) in One: Roots of Honor at MOA Arena.
"Special ito sa amin," admitted the 36-year-old Eric.
Edward, 35, added: "Sobrang special nito dahil siya yung dahilan kaya nandito kami. Nung una ko siyang napanood, dun ako nagka-interes na lumaban."
The last time the Kelly brothers fought in one night was January 2018 in One: Global Superheroes in Manila. Edward knocked out Meas Meul in the first round, but Eric wasn't as fortunate, tapping to Rafael Nunes in the second round.
This time they are both hoping to have their hands raised at the end of their bouts.
For Edward, the night means a lot more as this marks Eric's return to the country after almost a year of inactivity.
"Namimiss ko siya," he said, with his elder brother opting to go to Dubai to get his life back on track after losing to Tetsuya Yamada back in May last year.
"Lumayo siya, pumunta siya sa Dubai. Nakikita ko kasi yung family niya, kailangan niya ipakita as a father na kaya niyang buhayin sila. Kung nandito pa siya, hindi nawawala yung pag-iisip niya sa family niya. Wala siyang magawa noon kaya alam ko na babawi siya ngayon."
Though he's miles away from home, Eric said that he still keeps tabs on Edward, though he fully trusts Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao in his younger brother's training.
"Nagke-keep in touch pa rin kami ni Edward tungkol sa family namin. Pagdating sa fight, may kumpyansa kasi ako kay coach Mark sa team niya kaya tahimik ako. Nagfo-focus ako sa sarili ko," he said.
That's why if the Kelly brothers do overcome their Korean foes come Friday, this may just be one of the best nights in their family household.
"Kung manalo kaming pareho, magandang celebration ito," said Eric.
