IT’S not only inside the octagon where local fans will see top mixed martial artists during the second staging of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Philippines on October 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
UFC Fight Night Manila, featuring the main event between BJ Penn and Ricardo Lamas, will also be graced by a host of special guest fighters who will take part in a series of fan and media activities to promote the event.
Hall of Famer and former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell leads the list that also has former lightweight champion and now a featherweight contender Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, third-ranked heavyweight Alistair Overeem, and Maverick Chiesa, a lightweight contender.
Retired Filipino-American fighter Mark Munoz completes the cast, being the UFC ambassador for this event.
Munoz has already done his duties this month, while the rest will arrive on fight week for the tour, including the open workouts on October 12 at the MOA Arena, the weigh-in ceremony on the eve of fight night.
It will be Liddell’s second visit in the country after he came in 2008.
