CHRISTIAN Lee returns to the Philippines a year and a half after scoring his first professional mixed martial arts victory at the MOA Arena.
The Singaporean star is set to take on Jianping Wan in One: Kings of Destiny on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Lee won as a 17-year-old fighter in One: Spirit of Champions in 2015 and went on to win four more fights before suffering the first loss in his career last year after being submitted by Martin Nguyen.
"It's been a crazy ride since I made my debut here in the Philippines. This is obviously my seventh fight with One and I'm just excited, taking it all in," Lee said.
"Come Friday night, I'm hoping I could give you guys a good fight," he added.
Lee, younger brother of One Women's Atomweight champion Angela Lee, focused with the positives rather than sulk in the bitterness of the loss and that could be his biggest advantage against his Chinese foe.
"I'd rather have it now than later. It's something that I took as a learning experience and, in all honesty, it made me a better fighter," said the fighter out of Evolve MMA.
"It taught me to be a patient and smarter fighter. It also made me realize not to take any fight for granted," he added.
"This is very special for me. I love fighting here in the Philippines and it will be much sweeter if I win," Lee continued.
"Expect a fast-paced and an exciting, exciting fight. Then, expect a finish."
