Baron Geisler blasts URCC as 'unprofessional' after no-show in presscon for Kiko Matos rematch

    Jun 27, 2017

BARON Geisler blasted the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) on Tuesday for being unprofessional in the midst of his upcoming rematch against fellow actor Kiko Matos on August at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

A few reporters who stayed after the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum was surprised to see Geisler appear at the public service forum held at the Golden Phoenix Hotel as he was informed that a URCC press conference was scheduled.

The actor, however, was surprised to find out that the PSA Forum had ended and that the URCC was not part of the line-up of guests.

Apparently, Geisler had enough and called URCC as unprofessional.

"This whole URCC thing is a circus," said Geisler to a handful of sports reporters. "They are not professionals."

Geisler said he came all the way from Pampanga to attend the supposed URCC press conference and skip what was supposed to be his first training day for the coming event that includes the second installment of his match against Matos.

The first fight between Geisler and Matos at the Valkyrie drew a lot of attention but ended in a draw.

"I was supposed to here very early, woke up early, my friends and family are here to support me, but I don't know what in the world is going on right now," said Geisler.

The actor also felt the URCC is making him a joke for going all the way from Pampanga to attend the press conference.

"I just felt na napaka-unprofessional nila and they are making me look bad and they are making me like a joke," Geisler said.

Geisler said he didn't want make an effort to go to a trip to Manila because he didn't want his training routine for the Matos fight to be disrupted.

"I don't know if this is their strategy for me to get angry or upset. I don't want to go here kasi training ko," said Geisler.

Geisler said he accepted the rematch against Matos to prove something for himself after the match ended in a draw. But after what happened, Geisler said he is now hesitant.

"I want to prove myself that I'm the underdog here na I have the balls to fight him kahit one year na siya nagte-training and maybe some may be inspired that if you are physically fit and mentally strong that you can become a champion... I'm willing as long as they respect me enough and ibigay nila 'yung tamang bargain of the deal," said Geisler.

Geisler said, in the first place, he doesn't need the fight as he has upcoming projects this year.

"I'm doing this for my sobriety because I have an upcoming movie. I'm not desperate for the money because I have a movie coming up and a TV show. I'm ready to fight," he said.

"Kapag ganito, I rather leave the shenanigans sa kanila kesa gamitin nila ako at sabihin na joke ako. Kasi lumalabas na joke ako at hindi ako papayag. Get their s*it together kasi ang labo nila kausap," said Geisler.
