THERE’S plenty of Filipino flavor in the maiden staging of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the Philippines.
Apart from the four Pinoys, led by Mark Muñoz, who will see action, Arianny Celeste is set to set foot inside the octagon in UFC: Fight Night Manila on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The 29-year-old Celeste, born to Mexican and Filipino parents in Las Vegas, will turn on the charm as one of two cage girls for the historic event, bannered by the main bout between Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber.
Another Filipina could be her partner as the UFC has launched a search for its first 'Octagon Girl,' MMA's version of boxing's round girls, from the country.
The world’s premier mixed martial arts organization is inviting candidates to submit their applications online through www.ufc.com/octagongirl manila until 31.
The winner will receive a contract with UFC for the event.
