VOLLEYBALL stars Alyssa Valdez and Rachel Anne Daquis along with PBA cagers PJ Simon and LA Tenorio led a star-studded cast as USANA bared the third batch of athletes included in their Team Pilipinas on Friday at the Peking Garden in Greenbelt 5.
The latest members of USANA Team Pilipinas also include golfer Abe Avena; racer Gaby Dela Merced; tennis stars P.J. Tierro, Tin Patrimonio, and Marian Capadocia; taekwondo couple Japoy Lizardo and Janice Lagman-Lizardo; two-time world 10-ball champion Rubilen Amit; dragon boat athlete Sid Isidro; football players Chieffy Caligdong and Misagh Bahadoran; bowler Biboy Rivera; equestrienne Michelle Cojuangco Barrera and archer Gab Moreno.
The USANA Team Pilipinas was launched in 2014 to serve as an inspiration for Filipinos to live healthy and fit. USANA hopes to continue inspiring next generation to have good nutrition habits through the examples of their growing list of stellar athlete-ambassadors, which also feature cycling rising star Marella Salamat, UST Lady Tigresses’ Jessy De Leon, cyclist Marites Bitbit, footballer Simon Greatwich, and Intal brothers JC and Rex.
“What is Team USANA Pilipinas all about? It is mainly our aspirations, it is our program to ensure that we encourage, we inspire the goodness of good health to everybody using of course our athletes, the members of the Team USANA Pilipinas. We want the Filipino people to be aware of what is good nutrition,” Duday Gaston, regional manager of USANA for the Philippines and Indonesia said.
"We do not just sponsor one team, we sponsor the top athletes for different events. We know we have not completed the whole line-up for every event, but hopefully we will be able to do that. ” she added.
“We are adding more athletes from different fields, but we have more athletes from the two bigger events in the Philippines, which is men’s basketball and women’s volleyball,” she said.
The third batch of the Team USANA would not be the last, said Gaston. And they are even including other popular personalities beyond sports, as USANA has also tapped motivational speaker Francis Kong and The Apprentice Asia winner Jonathan Yabut to join former beauty queen Patty Betita as their brand ambassadors.
Meanwhile, USANA also launched its latest product, the Proglucamune, that aims to strengthen athletes’ immune system. It is only available in three countries, Australia, New Zeland, and the Philippines.
Apart from Friday’s events, USANA will also hold a fashion show on June 26 for their sports apparel that will only be available for the members of the prestigious team and the company’s distributors.
