FITNESS enthusiasts, mixed martial artists and celebrities “rarned their Armour” as they tackled intense physical challenges at the UP Town Center for the second leg of the Earn Your Armour Fight Form: Elite Edition.
The brainchild of coach Erwin Tagle of Ultimate Fitness, Fight Form is a fitness program that utilizes various martial arts movements in a no-contact format.
The high intensity workout lets athletes practice mixed martial arts movements such as jabs, kicks, “sprawl and brawl” and others without the need of a sparring partner.
Fight Form is highly recommended for fitness enthusiasts looking to simulate the fun and feel of martial arts without risking physical injury. Athletes are scored based on number of repetitions per movement within a set time limit, or the maximum time to sustain a particular movement or position such as a plank or squat.
As a prelude to the Fight Form challenge at UP Town Center, various martial artists demonstrated their skills to the audience. The demonstrations included muay thai, wushu, wrestling, capoeira, and mixed martial arts.
TV personalities Rocco Nacino and Sid Lucero faced each other in an exhibition match, followed by local MMA stars Geje Eustaquio and Eros Baluyot, Honorio Banario versus Francis Uy, and Brian Lim facing off against Igor Subora, the former URCC champion and current One heavyweight contender.
Also at the event was recently crowned Blue Belt world champion for Brazilian jiu-jitsu Meggie Ochoa. The petite Ochoa made waves last year when she won the White Belt world champion title for BJJ after starting a crowd-funding campaign to help finance her competition. Her next major event is the IBJJ Asian Open.
Celebrity siblings Bubbles and Paolo Paraiso also came on stage to gamely demonstrate the “Fight Form” workout.
For the Fight Form challenge, a total of 56 representatives from various gyms throughout Metro Manila and Isabela showed their strength, endurance, and agility through a battery of exercises. The partner gyms included Ultimate Fitness, Fitness Camp, Absolute Fitness Isabela, Anytime Fitness, Safehouse, and Spartacus.
