When was the last time you actually had a decent workout? Between work, sleep, having a social life, and the horrendous traffic situation we're forced to deal with every day, it's getting increasingly difficult to put exercise on your daily to-do list.
Like all good things, it’s important that you make time for your own health. In as little as 10 minutes, you can work up a good sweat while increasing your heart rate. Here are four exercises you can try from the comfort of your own bedroom. The best part: They require little to no equipment to perform.
One of the oldest exercises ever is still used for a good reason: it works. To start, get into a braced position facing the floor with your arms outstretched supporting your weight. Keep your back and shoulders straight. Bend your arms to lower your chest closer to the floor, then push back to complete the repetition. You’ll feel this in your chest, shoulders, and triceps.
Start with your feet shoulder-width apart. Squat down with your back straight, making sure that your knees don’t extend past your toes. Once your butt is as low as possible, push back up using your legs, driving through the soles of your feet. You can mix squats and push-ups together for a quick, upper- and lower-body workout.
To perform the exercise, start standing with your arms by your side. Squat down until your hands can touch the floor, then kick your legs back into a push-up position. From there, spring your legs back into a squatting position, then perform a jump to complete the exercise. You can do these in sets, or see how many repetitions you can manage in 10 minutes. After a while, you’ll feel the burn in your thighs and lungs. For added intensity, add a push-up after you kick your legs back.
You can buy a jump rope almost anywhere, and just 10 minutes of jumping is enough to work your cardio. You can do the basic jump with both feet at a steady clip, alternate feet to test your coordination, or try and get two swings in per jump for a more high-intensity challenge.
