PRU LIFE UK literally hit the ground running for 2015 with its iRun4Pru on Sunday at Filinvest City, Alabang.
More than 3,000 participants, majority from the British life insurer’s agency force, took part in what is probably the largest race for insurance agents in the country.
The company’s active financial consultants, employees and executives ran in three race categories - 4K, 8K and 16K distances. To spice up the race, the course included inflatable obstacles, color showers and wall climbing. A simultaneous run also took place at the People’s Park in North Davao City.
Arnold Balaba won the 16K Men’s. Second place went to Isagani Loyola and completing the podium finish was Pru Life UK CEO Antonio de Rosas who came in third.
In the Women’s 16K, Regine Corpus took top honors while Liberty Lalion and Marianne Maligat finished second and third, respectively.
Maximo Joaquin, Jr., the ebullient general manager and chief distribution officer, said the run “is symbolic of the commitment of every man and woman from the Pru to give only their best as we push toward the finish line.”
He emphasized that people should not only be “financially but also physically fit."
The 8K Men’s race was topped by Andre Garcia, second went to Rommel Abratigue and Martin Cruz claimed third overall. The 8K Women’s was won by Rowena Suarez, followed by Kristine Pajares and Marianna Galang.
Katarina Rodriguez of Asia’s Top Model Cycle 2 claimed first place in the Women’s 4K, followed by Anna Margarita Camua and Danna Robledo. The Men’s 4K winner was Mamerto de Rosas, who beat Regan Natividad and Hernani Concepcion.
The event also raised funds for victims of Typhoon Ruby which devastated parts of Easter Samar through its Rice Bucket Challenge, where Pru Life UK will donate 3,000 buckets of rice to survivors on behalf of the agents who qualified to run.
A Pru Life UK agent must have been able to close at least one sale in December 2014 to qualify for the run.
Among the participants were members of the Philippine men’s football team led by the brothers Phil and James Younghusband.
Also on hand was the University of the Philippines Pep Squad whose cheerleading team performed stunts and routines during the event.
