IN a first for this basketball-crazy country, Nike has opened its first stores specifically targeting Pinoy kids.
With the inauguration of its flagship store at Kidzania at the Bonifacio Global City, the Nike Young Athletes Stores are the first of its kind by Nike in the Philippines and in the entire Southeast Asia region.
Owned and operated by Nike Prodigy, an official retailer of Nike Philippines, these stores are the first Nike stores specifically designed to cater to the athletic gear requirements of children aged 0-13 years old.
The stores are 100 percent dedicated to the youth and offer infant/toddler, pre-school and grade school size ranges.
“From a design perspective, it’s all the same. Whatever you see in adult products, we pick that design inspiration in the youth-sized products as well… we can be inspired by the LeBrons and the Cristiano Ronaldos of the world so the kids can feel that connection,” said Nike Philippines product specialist Andro Torres.
Present during the inauguration were PBA players Larry Fonacier and Mike Cortez and their young sons who took part in a mini-sports tournament for kids.
Aside from sizes, Nike Young Athlete Stores are the only Nike stores that have the complete youth size for all major sports and athletic endeavors, particularly basketball, football, running and sports lifestyle especially developed for young athletes.
Youth-themed apparel and footwear of NBA stars LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant will allow kids to have matching attire with their fashion-conscious parents. Football jerseys are also available.
The event also coincided with the release of the Air Jordan 11 Low.
There are currently three Nike Young Athletes stores: the flagship store at Kidzania Park Traiangle Building in BGC, Ayala Fairview Terraces and Ayala Solenad.
