    Get chance to explore scenic PH outdoors in Merrell's 'Getaway to Adventure' campaign

    Outdoor footwear brand Merrell recently forged a tie-up with the Department of Tourism (DOT) for its 'Getaway to Adventure' campaign, which aims to challenge travelers to explore the outdoors and 'outperform' themselves in conquering the various scenic and exciting trail and adventure travel sites in the Philippines. 

    The campaign was formally launched at a press luncheon and MOA signing by Tourism Promotions Board chief operations officer Domingo Enerio III with Merrell officials led by its president, Charles Yu at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas Center.  

    The year-long campaign will officially kick off on April 3 via social media where Facebook users can join in the campaign by sharing photos on Merrell’s official page. 

    Initially, two participants will be selected for each month and will be brought to that month’s outdoor destination. Two more winners will later be added as the campaign is extended in-store promos via footwear purchases.

    Among the several destinations up for grabs are Mt. Apo, Sagada, Batad, Mt. Pulag, Pico de Loro, Taal Volcano, Sierra Madre and Mt. Pinatubo.

    “The presentation showcases some of the most beautiful mountains in the country that will entice adventurers, especially mountain climbers. Mt. Pulag is certainly one of those beautiful attractions - you can see the Sea of Clouds as you ascend the summit. Sagada has always been a preferred destination for Filipinos and also for a lot of overseas travelers. And then you have places like Mt. Apo, Mt. Mayon and even the smallest volcano in the world (Taal) attracts a lot of attention,” said DOT’s Enerio.

    “There are so many places in the Philippines you can actually enjoy and discover. Be like Magellan and become a 21st century discoverer of your own beautiful island,” he added.

    To coincide with the introduction of its ‘Getaway’ campaign, the brand also unveiled its AllOut footwear collection, made for hiking, trekking and running in the great outdoors. The footwear is designed for modern day trail blazers and the collection features innovations such as Unifly cushioning for extra comfort, as well as Merrell’s tested performance technologies.

    Merrell marketing associate Denice Sharina Lao said their brand “empowers people to challenge themselves in the great outdoors -  to go outside and not settle for a life on the sidelines, to achieve and out perform.”

    For every adventure, Merrell recommends the right foot gear from its AllOut collection -  “Out.Hike” for hiking/ and trekking explorations, “Out.Paddle” designed for water destinations and Out.Explore for road to off-road travels.
