RUNNING enthusiasts experienced a unique fun and active weekend with family and kids gathered together at SM Mall of Asia as PinoyLUG held its first Brick Run on Sunday.
PinoyLUG, a Filipino community of Lego users accredited by The Lego Group (TLG), is a group who are into building, collecting and promoting the Lego brand and intent on passing their adoration to the next generation.
As part of this plan, they set up the Brick Run, which had race distances of 5-, 10-, to 16-kilometer runs with an exciting activity area for runners and kids to enjoy playing with the world’s renowned toy building brick.
"I’m very proud because it’s the first of its kind here in the Philippines by an RLUG. Lego being a global brand is every excited to see how this will turn out. And it turned out very well, better than we expected. There are a lot of participants both kids and adults, masayang-masaya ako.” said Leslie Araujo, Recognized Lego Users Group (RLUG) ambassador for Philippines.
Meanwhile, the 16km top male finishers were Wilfred Esporma who finished first in 1:01:22 followed by Josie Dagaas and Alfred Diocasa, who clocked in 01:16:10 and 01:07:50, respectively.
In the women’s category, Cindy Lorenzo led the podium with her 01:09:48 finish, beating Maricar Camacho (01:10:44) and Andrea Enriquez (01:27:48).
John Romel Landong (00:36:40) topped the men’s 10k, beating Carlito Fantilaga (00:39:15) and Jhay Zamora (00:39:23). Women’s 10K leader Silamie Abolistar clocked in at 00:47:48, followed by Michelle Manila (00:51:39) and Janice Reyes (00:58:36).
For the male 5km distance, Regie Lumawag (00:20:25) secured the top spot in beating Chack Ferrer (00:20:47) and Maurice Flaviano (00:21:25).
Janina Paredes ruled the women’s 5K with a time of 00:28:54, followed by Irish Desvarro (00:29:07) and Kathrina Matibag (00:29:37) to complete the podium for female 5k category.
