ACTOR-triathlete Matteo Guidicelli leads Saucony's Start Running Initiative that aims to encourage people to jumpstart their running goals. But the celebrity admitted that he’s a late bloomer himself when it comes to running.
“I used to run before when I was a racer but on a treadmill. I never really enjoyed running outdoors or running long. I started enjoying and loving it when I started triathlon 5 to 6 years ago,” he said.
Despite his acting commitments and his role in his family's restaurant business, Guidicelli still finds the time to train for his multi-sports pursuits, notably the recent Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship in Cebu.
“You really have to just prioritize what you do. The thing is, when you have work, you just think about work. And when your work’s done, you give time to running. And once you make running a part of your lifestyle, everything becomes natural and it just goes with the flow,” said Guidicelli.
Although he didn’t enjoy running at first, Guidicelli has come to love and long for runs with regular training. And the young actor has become quite smitten, even offering pointers on how to ease into running.
“Find a good pair of shoes because you don’t want to get injured. Saucony, the shoes, they’re just beautiful. Aside from how it looks, how it performs, you have so many different kinds to choose from for different kinds of runs, long runs, interval runs, tempo runs. So once you select your good pair of shoes, you’re gonna enjoy your runs better,” he said.
For Start Running, every purchase of a pair of regular-priced Saucony footwear from its stores and selected SM deparment stores automatically grants one raffle coupon to a running experience with the actor and Saucony 'You’re your Strong' shirts. The promo runs until September 22, 2016.
