Don’t let the lack of time to hit the gym or play sports stop you from breaking a sweat and getting in shape. Working out doesn’t have to be expensive and repetitive. It should always be fun.

If you’re eager to sweat it out despite your busy schedule, here are five fun workout alternatives you can explore.

1. Switch on your Kinect or Wii.

Dust off your Xbox Kinect or Nintendo Wii and use it for working out. There are plenty of games to choose from. Use your console to try Pilates,  Zumba, street dancing, tennis, boxing, bowling, basketball, and a virtual gym workout.

2. Ride your bike to work.

The perks: no traffic, hundreds of pesos saved, and hundreds of calories burned—every day. With daily traffic congestion, fuel prices going up, and limited transportation options, riding a bicycle to work is both practical and healthy. Make sure you wear a helmet, that your bike is roadworthy, and stay within the bike lane.

3. Engage in active play with the kids.

Try to keep up with your kids’, nieces’, or nephews’ energy, and get ready to laugh until it hurts. Roughhousing with kids will challenge your cardiovascular system and test your flexibility and patience. It could also be beneficial for the kids. According to a study, roughhousing is crucial for children’s development as it helps in the development of a child’s ability to manage emotions, thinking, and physical actions.

4. Walk your dog.

An active dog is a happy dog. Grab a leash and walk your canine buddy for at least 30 minutes to burn at least 100 calories. If you want to take it a notch higher, jog. Your pet will thank you later.

5. Hit the dance floor.

Depending on the type of dance, the pace of the music, and how much you weigh, you can burn from  100 to 500 calories in 30 minutes of dancing. If you want a fast burn, move quickly to some house music and hip-hop, or better yet, do the salsa.

Any fun activity that makes you sweat could be your go-to exercise routine.
