Rain or Shine rookie and rising star Javee Mocon has already made a good impression in the PBA.
With his basketball skills complementing his good looks, the former San Beda University star has steadily proven to be a total package himself. Others have even started to call him the next James Yap.
At the recent Collegiate Press Corps Awards held at the Amelie Hotel in Malate, Manila, Mocon, the Pivotal Player awardee, came with his no-nonsense girlfriend Ivy Belerhas.
The soft-spoken Belerhas only had great things to say about her boyfriend, whom she feels hasn't changed despite his growing popularity.
“I don’t really think of it in any sort of way, it’s impacted by basketball I just think that he’s a great person and I really enjoy being his girlfriend,” Belerhas told SPIN Life. “I met him before he became a celebrity so I don’t really think of him that way but I’m appreciative of everything that he does for me."
Belerhas, who wasn’t used to getting the attention, also stressed that she’s very happy about everything that is happening in Mocon’s career.
The PBA newcomer played a vital role in Rain or Shine’s campaign in the Philippine Cup where the Elasto Painters reached the semifinals.
“It’s good, I think that he deserves it," she said. "He works hard, he absolutely deserves all the credit that he gets and I’m trying to support him in anything that he does in whatever way I can but really it’s all Javee."
Being together for more than six months now, Belerhas has been a witness to all of Mocon’s sacrifice as well as his triumphs.
While many female fans are gushing over her boyfriend, she remains confident that she’s his only one.
“I think because he’s a celebrity, so I think it’s fine and it’s something that’s part of his day-to-day life as a basketball player,” she said. “[And] I know that Javee is devoted to me so it doesn’t really matter at all."
