JR GALLARZA might be on the other side of the globe right now, but when his beloved alma mater calls for aid, he’s there to help out.
A few days ago, as Commission on Higher Education implements remote learning for this academic year, the University of the Philippines posted on Facebook that more than 5000 students are in need of help because they cannot afford the procedure and materials needed for online classes.
Currently residing in Canada for a few years now, the former Maroon forward announced that he’s willing to sponsor a few student-athletes.
He shared UP’s post and added: “If there are any UP student-athletes that are in dire need of help, please have them reach out. I’d like to help sponsor one or two or even just help in ways I can.”
This way, he can give back a little to the community that's shaped him into the person he is now.
After graduating magna cum laude from the State U, Gallarza migrated to Canada to live with his wife, international model Holly Wolf, and son.
Continuing his love for basketball, he established Role, a youth basketball camp and trains young dreamers in the sport.
