FOR YEARS, Kobe Bryant's family have been serious Taylor Swift fans. In 2015, the late Lakers star went up on stage at Staples Center during the singer's concert to present her a banner. In 2018, Bryant brought his entire family to watch another concert in the Rose Bowl, and even brought his daughters backstage to meet the singer.
This weekend, almost six months to the day since Kobe Bryant died, Taylor Swift dropped a surprise new album last weekend called Folklore. Her first single off the new LP is a song called “Cardigan.”
Vanessa Bryant revealed that Swift sent over the same style of cardigan she wore on the music video as a gift to Kobe’s 17-year-old daughter Natalia.
Kobe’s wife Vanessa revealed the surprise on her Instagram Stories.
“Thank you @taylorswift #Cardigan,” wrote Vanessa in her caption.
For her part, Natalia Bryant wrote on her own Instagram Stories: “Thank you SO much @taylorswift. I am obsessed with folklore.”
Last January 27, Kobe Bryant perished in a helicopter crash in California, along with his daughter Gianna. A few hours after he died, Swift posted a tribute on Twitter.
“My heart is in pieces hearing the news of this unimaginable tragedy. I can’t fathom what the families are going through. Kobe meant so much to me and to us all. Sending my prayers, love, and endless condolences to Vanessa and the family and anyone who lost someone on that flight," she said.
