For Canada-based Filipino couple Tiffany and Miguel Badilla, it went all the way to the birth certificate.
The couple named their unico hijo Shai Gilgeous Badilla—yes, after Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Tiffany shared a reel of baby Shai’s documents on Instagram: “My husband’s a die-hard fan. He had to name our kid after SGA.”
They dropped “Alexander,” ending up with the slick initials SGB—short for Shai Gilgeous Badilla.
Turns out, the timing couldn’t have been better. The Canadian hooper just capped a historic 2024–2025 season, winning an NBA title, Finals MVP, and league MVP.
Born in September 2024, baby Shai joins the ranks of Pinoy kids with all-star names—a nod to the Philippines' long-standing obsession with hoops.
