WITH the global pandemic shuttering passenger flights, several Filipino flight attendants found themselves stuck abroad for many months.
But FAs based in the city of Riyadh are using this time to help out fellow kababayans who are in dire straits.
“The whole community here sa mga female flight attendants, maraming gustong tumulong,” shared Mary Grace Castro. Pooling their resources together — as well as funds raised from back home and even from kind-hearted souls from other countries — the flight attendants were able to provide food, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies to a community of 400 OFWs who were similarly marooned in Saudi Arabia.
“Five months na silang walang trabaho, five months na silang hindi nakakain ng rice,” explained Castro.
A single mom, Castro hasn’t gone home in seven months, and misses her child terribly. But she’s happy that she’s able to help out her fellow Filipinos.
