HARMZ HUI aka Mr. Long Bomb has definitely been on the heat of battle after making his professional basketball debut in the Pilipinas Super League, despite being primarily known as a content creator.
Due to his arrival to the scene, the basketball community shared their sentiments on his exposure, with some questioning him as to why he was chosen to join a pro team when there are others who are more deserving.
But there are others like for instance, Mikee Reyes, who was more open to the idea of having content creators into the pro basketball scene as long as they learn to respect the craft.
His words became a source of inspiration for Mr. Long Bomb, who shared Tito Mikee's statements.
"This will be an eye-opener! Thank you Tito Mikee for This."
Eventually, the so-called Steph Curry of the Philippines posted a lengthy response to his critics.
Long Bomb explodes
"First of all this is PH. Kung saan dapat mo hawakan maige ang pangarap mo. Dahil may mga kapwa ka Pinoy na aagaw or mangdidis-courage sayo para abutin ito," he started.
In his pro league debut, Mr. Long Bomb was placed under a microscope as fans pointed out his major weaknesses. Despite having an insane shooting range as seen from his YouTube clips, Long Bomb had notable flaws.
He lacks the dribbling wizardry needed to blitz pass defenders or create separation, the way Steph Curry does in the NBA, plus it can be argued that his entrance slowed down Top Tier, Lipa Batangas Stallions' offense.
In the end he only played for two minutes and racked up zero points, adding more fuel to the fire.
Here's how Hui responded to those who questioned his loopholes.
"Bakit? Bakit may Stigma ang Basketball Community na dapat magaling ka at flawless gumalaw, mag-dribble bago ka tanggapin ng lahat kahit at the end of the game all you need to do is to shoot the Ball only."
"Dahil ba unorthodox ako gumalaw? Panget sa mata niyo? At hindi yun ang gusto at pamantayan na makita ng mata nyo?"
Am I making a joke out of this?
While many argued that Hui is doing this out of content, he reiterated that it isn't the case as he acknowledged that there is a lot that needs to be done.
"I'm working my ass to adapt and learn, at mag-train para somehow makasabay ako! Yah, I got bullied sa debut ko. Pero tinanggap ko yun ng taas noo. Kasi I have respect sa Liga. That is pro. Walang mag-baby sit sa akin sa eksenang ito. At expect ko na mangyayari yun kaya tinuring ko yun na good start and experience for me."
He further elaborated: "But do you think im making fun of this?? Hell No!!!! Im doing this for the Love of the Game. Mahal ko ang basketball. Sa iba akala nila nagti-trip ako just because of my stint and atake sa mga content ko? Its a big No!!! Because Strategy ko yun."
In the end, Long Bomb willfully accepted all the bashing directed to him just for the love of the game.
"Buong puso ko sinalo lahat ng binato nyong salita at ginamit ko yung hate niyo para gumawa ng ingay at para in my own way makapag-ambag ako sa Pinoy basketball community na mahal ko."
Tito Mikee responds
After his lengthy post, Tito Mikee expressed a heartwarming message to Hui. He understood what Mr. Long Bomb was doing given his role as a content creator, however he reminded him that entering the pros requires a different mentality.
Overall he wished Hui all the best.
