BURYING the hatchet little by little, gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo shared he and his brother Olympic golden boy Carlos, see each other often during the national team’s training sessions, helping strengthen their bond.

After getting caught in the middle of a very public family spat during Caloy's run to two gold medals at the Paris Olympics, Eldrew and Caloy were seen sharing a sweet moment at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards last January.

They looked chummy and even gamely posed for photos together.

Eldrew said the exchange during the PSA Awards Night was brief and limited to ‘congratulations’ after he received a special citation and Caloy was named ‘Athlete of the Year.’

“Wala naman [sinabi], cinongrats niya lang ako nung awards,” he said. “Hindi kami masyado nagcha-chat, pero nagkikita kami sa training.”

Whatever the state of their family affair, Eldrew is totally focused on his gymnastics career and motivated to get better each day.

"Araw-araw ang training ko, nagsisipag ako, and tina-try ko talaga sa sarili ko magsipag, at ibigay best ko araw-araw," he explained.

The 16-year-old Eldrew made his latest public appearance last Sunday, participating in the 5-kilometer fu nrun of the 2025 Milo Marathon at the Mall of Asia complex.

“First ever race ko ito, parang training ko na din,” said Eldrew, who was accompanied by his mother, Angelica, and younger sister, Iza.

“Bago ko tumakbo, kiniss ko siya [his mom], pero 30 minutes lang naman ako nawala. Dapat tatakbo din siya, pero tinamad siya, support na lang,” he shared.

Running his first short-distance race, Eldrew said it’s a discipline he’d love to continue.

“I love it so much, and yes, I’m going to do it again hanggang sa pagtanda ko para active pa rin kahit papaano,” he said.

Now an ambassador of Milo, Eldrew shared that he's grateful for the brand's continuous support to his family and other athlete peers.

"Mas nakakagana mag-training at mag-compete 'pag alam mong may sumusuporta sayo genuinely," he added.
