WHILE most Metro Manila motorists and commuters always get infuriated by the heavy traffic along major roads, San Miguel big man June Mar Fajardo has learned to stretch his patience through the rush hour traffic in EDSA.
For the longest time, the gentle giant has been mild tempered despite the physicality during games, especially in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup semifinals against Phoenix.
Although Fajardo, at one point, admitted that he was tempted to retaliate, he remained calm despite their opponents’ intense defense on him.
In a chat with SPIN.ph, the five-time MVP revealed how he keeps his composure.
“Try mong drive sa EDSA, sobrang traffic, kapag may nag-cut sa ’yo bigla doon nate-test ang pasensiya ko,” he said.
“Tapos gusto kong magbusina, gusto kong mainis, pero hindi ko na lang gagawin,” he added.
When asked about his opinion on the physicality in their best-of-seven series with Phoenix, Fajardo said that he understands why the Fuel Masters are being physical.
“Part ‘yun ng game, hindi naman sila dirty maglaro, physical lang talaga. So part ‘yun ng laro, ‘yun ‘yung way nila para mawala kami sa laro,” he said.
“So laging nire-remind sa amin nina coach na ‘wag kami lalaban, ‘yung physicality nila pero magco-compete kami,” he added.
San Miguel currently leads Phoenix, 3-1, in the series, and one more win will bring the defending champions back in the finals.
