THE world of sports is well represented in the 2014 edition of the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World.
Even as actress-model Marian Rivera was named FHM's Sexiest Woman in the Philippines for the second straight year and became the first to win the coveted title three times, several sports personalities got votes from a good percentage of the more than 13 million votes that were cast in this year’s contest.
Jennylyn Mercado, who ranked fourth overall on the list, is an aspiring triathlete who has participated in some of the toughest triathlons and duathlons around the country. It’s hard to believe the actress-singer is a mother of one based on her toned physique.
Holding the 100th spot and possibly the most accomplished athlete on the list is Gretchen Ho, the former Ateneo volleyball star who was one of the recognizable faces in the UAAP. The 5-7 Ho has embarked on a career as a sports anchor in ABS-CBN’s Sports and Action channel.
Basketball fans should be quite familiar with the charming pair of Erika Padilla (42) and Rizza Diaz (97). The two courtside reporters are staples in PBA games where they provide an attractive source of updates and the occasional locker room splash. Padilla recently appeared on the cover of FHM's June 2014 issue.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is ably represented by ring girls Arianny Celeste (43) and Christine Hallauer (67) who provide the combatants of the octagon with a hint of feminine grace. Celeste is of Filipino-Mexican descent and is a staple in the UFC, where she also co-hosts a web show with Joe Rogan. The Filipino-Swiss Hallauer is the OneFC muse.
Also making the list is actress Michelle Madrigal (17) who was recently linked to San Miguel Beerman Chris Ross. Madrigal is also an avid Cross Fit athlete.
