Former La Salle team captain Aby Maraño couldn’t be any prouder of the current batch of Lady Spikers.
The F2 Logistics star was present during the La Salle-Ateneo match for the opening weekend of the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Maraño, in fact, was the one who led former Lady Spikers in their cheer from the patron section.
The beast mode queen was proud to see now team captain Des Cheng, who is in the same position she was in five years ago, also aiming for a four-peat title.
“Nakakatuwa kasi nagmature na [si Des],” said Maraño. “Syempre, inabutan ko yon noong rookie siya. Ako yung senior niya. Proud ako.”
“Ngayon siya naman yung parang napunta sa posisyon ko. Same jersey, captain ball, fourth-peat,” she added.
She also recognizes the pressure on Cheng's shoulders. According to Maraño, being a team captain is a huge responsibility, especially since La Salle is one of the most anticipated teams every UAAP women’s volleyball season.
“I think malaking responsibility yung naiwan sa kanya pero nakita ko yung maturity ni Des kaya talagang proud na proud ako sa kanya,” she said.
