SHERILYN Reyes-Tan is one amazing wife, who tries to learn the complexities of basketball even though she admitted that she had zero knowledge about it.
Having Chris Tan for a husband, the TV actress is trying her best to learn about the sport.
The mother of three shared to SPIN.ph that even when Chris used to play Sta. Lucia, it doesn’t excite her much as she is now that he’s an assistant coach for Meralco.
“Before when he was a player, wala naman akong kaalam-alam sa basketball. Parang, okay naka-shoot siya," she said with a laugh.
Being together for almost two decades now, Sherilyn now knows a thing or two about basketball.
“I get to discuss the game with him a lot kasi syempre pagkatapos ng game ng dami niyang sinasabi, natututo rin ako,” she said.
“Ine-explain niya sa akin like meron siyang point, tatawagin pa niya ako, ihaharap niya ako sa computer, then iso-slow mo niya ‘yan paisa-isa, ipapaliwanag niya,” she added.
With Chris’ patience to teach her, Sherilyn can now share her opinion on the game especially when there’s a specific play that her husband wanted to talk about.
“Mahilig siya sa ganito, ‘Tignan mo ito, anong masasabi mo dito [sa play na ‘to], anong mali dito?’ So nakakatulong naman ako kahit papaano,” she said. “Pero sila noong second ko, si Lorenz, free flowing ang usap nilang mag-ama pagdating sa basketball.”
Sherilyn, though, pointed out that learning basketball wasn’t something that Chris obliged her to do.
It was her personal choice to do so.
For her, it is the least she could do to reciprocate the same interest that her husband is showing when it comes to her acting career.
“Alam mo, everytime he talks to me about work talagang full attention ako at saka talagang lahat ng details ng sinasabi niya nakikinig ako kasi baka mamaya sagot ako nang sagot just for the sake na may maisagot ako eh ang layo naman pala sa tinatanong niya,” she said.
“And it’s also important na alam ko ‘yung ginagawa niya kasi same way na ganoon din siya sa akin, he’s also very interested in what I do. Kapag nag-uusap kami ang dami niyang inputs and I want to be the same kapag kinakausap niya ako about sa basketball,” she added.
She revealed that the basketball coach would turn into an acting coach, manager, or even stylist whenever needed.
Aside from Sherilyn, her first born, Ryle, has also entered show business, while their youngest daughter, Eia, is an adorable social media star.
“For example sa pag-aartista, or kapag may mall show [he’s ver supportive], actually siya ang critique namin ng son ko [si Ryle], siya ang director, siya ang stylist, siya lahat,” shared Sherilyn.
“Kapag sa mga teleserye, magsasabi siya na kapag daw galit ako ‘wag daw ako masyado nakadilat. More than 20 years na ako sa showbiz, ngayon ko lang nalaman ‘yun,” she laughed. “Alam mo, kung producer siya pinroduce na niya ako ng album, bilib na bilib siya sa boses ko eh ako nga hindi bilib sa boses ko.”
When it comes to their children, Sherilyn also admitted that dad is No. 1.
“Para lang kaming barkada ng mga anak namin, we talk everything and anything under the sun. Para our kids hindi sila matakot mag kwento about their secrets,” she said.
“Actually kapag kaming mag-asawa may issue, ‘yung panganay ang nasa gitna, si Ryle,” she shared. “Kaya lang naiinis ako kasi maka-daddy, so sabi ko ay mahirap kapag mga anak mo ang kausap mo sa problema kasi wala akong kakampi.”
“Si Eia laging gitna pero takot din sa daddy niya so medyo [may leaning din]. Kaya sasabihin ko na, ok sige na alam ko naman number one si daddy," she added with another round of laughter.
