HAVING witnessed how her favorite grandson grew up loving the game of basketball, Lola Siony is the most excited to see Calvin Abueva’s suspension finally lifted.
“Sabik na sabik na siyang makapaglaro, simula pagkabata, ‘yan na talaga ang hilig niya,” she told SPIN Life.
The beleaguered Phoenix star is now in the final process of acquiring his playing license back after getting a green light from the PBA board to join the Fuel Masters inside the league bubble in Pampanga.

Abueva also needs to complete the final requirements set by Commissioner Willie Marcial before his indefinite suspension is lifted.
The supportive grandmother often stood in as a surrogate parent in the absence of Calvin's father. Before his suspension, she was a constant presence in the sidelines diuring Abueva's games, cheering her heart out for the former NCAA MVP.
A few years ago, Lola Siony revealed that Calvin fell in love with basketball from the time he put up an improvised court made of plywood as the board, and bucket handles as his ring just outside their shanty in Angeles City.
As far back as she can remember, nothing gives Abueva more joy than playing basketball. So Lola Siony is hopeful Calvin would be back playing the game he loves during the season restart to be played in their hometown.
“Proud na proud talaga ako sa apo ko. Salamat sa ating mahal na Panginoon, dinig niya ang lahat ng nagdasal na makabalik na siya,” she said.
