AS MAGNOLIA nears a possible to ticket to the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals, veteran Calvin Abueva is giving credit where it is due -- to teammate, Tyler Bey.
Indeed, the American reinforcement has been consistent with the Hotshots' run averaging 27.64 points per game, 14.9 rebounds, and 2.18 dimes in the conference.
Abueva says he sees similarities between himself and Bey.
"Actually, he [has] been great for me, he's 25, I'm 35, 10 years gap pero nakikita ko nga 'yung younger self ko sakanya. college level and nung first year ko sa Alaska," he told SPIN.ph.

Abueva continued: "Mas matanda ako, pero ngayon, he's one of my idols, iba yung pinapakita niya, nacocommit niya sa team namin 'yung aggressiveness niya, and effort. Fit na fit talaga sa Magnolia."
When things get serious, though, Abueva said he knows where to draw the line to man up for the younger player.
"He's a brother, a close friend, good vibes pero syempre andon pa rin 'yung veteran ako, kuya ako, kaya kailangan ko pa rin mag-guide," he said. "Pero hindi niya laging kailangan i-guide, he's one of the best players now."
