EVEN after her studies, the values of a student-athlete remain alive for actress and now-licensed architect Pat Tingjuy as she juggles multiple roles in her career.
The 'Rookie' film's award-winning actress shared that she owes a big chunk of her success to the athlete culture she practiced.
"I grew up doing sports, I was a student-athlete from grade school to college. My whole life, I've been doing sports, and what I've learned so far is time management, discipline, and learning from losses," she told SPIN Life.
Best actress honor
Tingjuy recently signed with talent management NYMA, under Kroma Entertainment, hoping to go deeper into the film industry.
Last 2023, she won the Cinemalaya Best Actress honors for her character in Sam Lee's volleyball-centric piece. And according to Pat, it made her reconnect with her love for the game.
As she awaits new projects in acting, she's also training and practicing to get better at her game, hoping to land a spot in the professional volleyball scene.
"My background makes me aim for something, I want to continue playing, I am hoping to be able to play again, I want to do professional so I can take it off my bucket list," she shared.
Tingjuy's sports roots
Tingjuy was a varsity player back in her elementary to high school days and played for the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture in college.
"I always keep active, I exercise to make me feel that I'm at my best everyday. I play volleyball with friends, some of them former pros and UAAP players, and tennis with my family," she continued.
Tingjuy shared she played the outside hitter position but is willing to explore other roles for versatility.
She also revealed she looks up to co-Thomasian Sisi Rondina and Jessey De Leon, who, by the way, is also an architect.
