ALEX Eala is now only a spot behind the top rank in the tennis World Juniors ranking.
The Filipina ace has improved her point standing by 467.5 after winning twin titles in Trofeo Bonfiglio, a JA, tournament in Milan, Italy.
The 16-year-old's total tally increased from 2318.75 to 2786.25, surpassing Elsa Jacquemot of France with 2404.25, to reclaim the no. 2 spot of the International Tennis Federation World Juniors Rankings.
Eala first clinched the spot in October last year after a semifinals finish in the 2020 French Open.
In Milan, the top-seeded player conquered both Singles and Doubles main draw.
She dominated Nikola Bartunkova of Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, in the Singles championship round.
Meanwhile, in the Doubles, she and her partner Madison Sieg of USA toppled Croatia's Lucija Ciric Bagaric and Sofia Costoulas of Belgium, 6-4, 4-6, 13-11.

In a social media post a day after her game, she aired her gratitude to her supporters. According to her father, Mike, a big crowd of Filipinos watched Eala's games in the tournament in Milan.
"Most of all, salamat sa mga kababayan and thanks to all my supporters. Champion in Singles and Doubles (Thanks Madison Sieg), 61st Trofeo Bonfiglio, Milan, Italy," she said.
Eala's rankings is also the best rankings yet obtained by a Filipino. She is also the top ranked Juniors player in Asia.
