Wrestling personalities remember the late 'Mean' Gene Okerlund

WWE lost one of its legends recently with the passing of ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund.

Despite his nickname, Gene was anything but mean, as evidenced by the online outpouring of love and condolences for Okerlund and his family. Superstars in the wrestling industry remembered him on Twitter for his unique contributions to the history of wrestling and sports entertainment as a whole.

A man with one of the most distinguishable mustaches in wrestling history, Gene Okerlund is a big contributor to the rise of wrestling’s biggest household name, Hulkamania himself, Hulk Hogan. The Hulkster would usually start his backstage interviews with, “Let me tell you something, ‘Mean’ Gene,” which was how it went until both legends retired.

But Okerlund was loved by all—and here’s proof on social media.
