SCOTTIE Thompson has never been one to back down from any challenge. Despite standing only at 6-foot-1, the Digos, Davao del Sur native has always been fearless in leaping for that rebound against taller opposition.
Now Thompson is leaning on that same feisty attitude whenever he ventures into a new investment.
The Ginebra guard has been wisely investing his earnings even at his young age, with the 27-year-old already launching a multitude of businesses.
He owns branches of Pound for Pound gym in Las Piñas, as well as his very own Thompson's Barber Shop. Thompson has collaborated with Gin Kings teammate Aljon Mariano to distribute athletic supplements from UpperClass.
"College pa lang ako, talagang gusto ko na yung barbershop. So nung nagka-puhunan ako, yun agad yung inuna ko sa Digos," he told The Prospects Pod.
But he's not stopping there, as he also opened his milk tea bar ScotTea, both in Parañaque and in Digos.
It's a tough challenge to open new ventures in this pandemic, but the 2014 NCAA MVP from Perpetual is also doing his part in helping out the community.
"Yung promo namin sa milk tea ngayon, buy one, give one. So pag bibili ka, automatic may libre yung isang frontliner at dini-distribute namin yun dito," he said.
Even at this stage of this career, Scottie knows that he has to secure his future. Just like in basketball, risks also comes with rewards, but the Gin King is ready to face every challenge..
"Ako kasi ang motto ko habang bata pa, if mag-fail ka man ngayon, ang dami pang chances bumawi eh. So yun yung mindset ko sa business," he said.
"Kaya sa mga kabataan, kung gusto niyong i-try, dapat wholehearted kayo at hindi kayo mag-alangan. Kasi kapag alanganin kayo at takot mag fail, magfe-fail talaga yan. Pero at the same time kung mag fail ka man, ready ka pa rin kasi bata ka pa eh at may chance ka pa na bumawi."
