FOR the first time ever, local television will air a match of Filipina teen tennis sensation Alex Eala in the semifinal of the WTA 1000 Miami Open in Florida.
The 19-year-old rising star will face world No. 4 Jessica Pegula this Friday (8:30 a.m. Manila Time) as she bids to take her phenomenal run in the top-tier WTA Tour tournament all the way to the finals.
After trending on social media and making the prime-time newscasts in the past week following wins against grand-slam winners Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, and Jelena Ostapenko, Eala now has the nation's attention.
On Thursday, ABS-CBN announced that it will air the Eala-Pegula match live through cable channels A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and ANC as well as the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel on March 28.
