VICE Ganda saw the UAAP Season 89 Kick-off Show as the perfect stage to do something beyond entertaining.
The former Far Eastern University political science major used her “Super Unkaboga-bowl” performance on Saturday to speak about the country’s current sociopolitical state and challenge the youth to help right today’s wrongs, with FEU serving as this season’s host school.

“I felt like it was the perfect moment to do it, perfect audience, perfect target audience, perfect target listener, perfect location, so I didn't wanna waste that chance,” Vice Ganda said.
"PolSci student ako, so kailangan bigyan naman natin sila ng glimpse of kung ano ba 'yung pinag-aralan ko sa FEU, 'di ba?”
That message came through during her performance, when she urged Gen Z to fight for a society that gives them a decent life and the freedom to succeed.
“It is very important that we exist in an environment that allows us to win, kaya naman ang hamon ko sa inyo: ipanalo ninyo ang lipunang magbibigay sa inyo ng disenteng pamumuhay at kalayaang magtagumpay," she said during the performance.
Vice Ganda then turned her attention to the kind of leaders young Filipinos must choose.
“At mangyayari lamang 'yan 'pag naipanalo ninyo ang mga lider na hindi kayo nanakawan at gagawin kayong bobo at ilulubog ang inyong dangal at pag-asa sa baha.”
She closed with a direct challenge: “Kaya naman Gen Zs, I challenge you to fight, show up, and win no matter what.”
For Vice Ganda, the choice of audience was deliberate.
“Sila 'yung game changers, eh. Kaya 'yung message na 'yun, talagang swak sa kanila,” she said, referring to the young Filipinos in the audience.
Her message echoed a similar moment from last season’s UAAP opening ceremony at the University of Santo Tomas, where Sarah Geronimo also spoke against corruption and urged the youth to play their part in changing the country.
But for the "Unkabogable Superstar," Saturday’s stage was too fitting to pass up.
“Hindi ko gustong sayangin ‘yung chance,” she said, because the young people watching, in her view, are the ones who can ultimately drive change in the country.
