Tri United lures sizeable field to Subic Bay with third offering of the year

Oct 24, 2013

TRI UNITED 2013 returns to Subic Bay with 464 participants for the Tri United 3 Elite & Age Group Championship on Sunday, October 27.

A total of 443 triathletes have signed up for the standard distance that covers a 1.5 kilometer swim followed by a 40k bike ride and topped off by a 10k run in the third installment of the year for the popular tri-series.

The teens distance will have 21 entries racing in a 750m swim-20k bike-5k run course inside the sprawling former US Navy base and air station, which has become a popular venue for tri-events owing to its deep bay and protected jungle.

Gun start for the standard distance is at 6 a.m. followed by the teens 30 minutes later.

Dungaree Beach, on the forested Cubi Point side, will be the focal point for Tri United 3 and will be the location of start-finish lines and transition areas as well as the Active Health Village.

For the Team Competition, Endure Multisport, PLDT-BIKE KING, Smart Triathlon Team, TRIMAC, Team Sante Barley and Unilab Active Health will be slugging out for the title.

All registered participants are entitled to post-race meals, finisher’s medals, event shirts, race bibs, swim caps, timing chips and passes to the Active Health Village.
