This is the motto of Tough X Rough Asia, the Philippines’ first international Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) series on TV5 that will feature a select group of contestants going through grueling tests of individual courage and endurance.
The partnership between the Kapatid Network and Tough X Rough (TxR) was announced at a press conference at the NBA Café at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City on Wednesday afternoon.
Tough X Rough is patterned after military-type commando training and includes eight race events – 3 short course and 4 long course, 4 boot camps and 1 National Championship, with the overall winner for Male and Female individual, as well as top Male and Female Teams, earning a free trip to the OCR World Championships at the Blue Mountain Resort, the largest mountain resort in Ontario, Canada on October 15 and 16.
The inaugural event of the Tough Mudder-inspired race, will be a short course at Intramuros in Manila in March and is expected to draw at least 1,000 participants. Qualifiers would be held in various parts of the country that includes Subic, Pampanga and Bohol.
TV Sports Head Chot Reyes described the only OCR World Championship Qualifier in Asia as a pioneering effort for the network and is a good team building activity and even hinted they would invite basketball players from various to take part.
“It is more than just a race… it’s about experience, hard work, perseverance, teamwork and the sense of community”.
Registration opens on Thursday and rates begin at P999 and will have individual and team categories. Each TrX participant will get a TXR Finisher Dog Tag, Race Visor, Work Out Towel, an event day wrist band, a Combat Pack, 10% off the next race and an ice cold Finish Line Beer.
