OUTDOOR enthusiasts endured the unpredictable weather, thick mud, adrenaline-pumping obstacles, and challenges during the first edition of Tough Mudder Philippines at Portofino Amore in Alabang this weekend.
Athletes and some celebrities gathered to get out to their comfort zones and experience a not-so-ordinary race. Combining the mud and obstacles situated along the course brought the heart of camaraderie of each participant to fellow mudders.
I was one of those who participated in the 5k – basic category on the first of two days on Saturday, finding out how teamwork helps other participants pass the obstacle of Pyramid Scheme 2.0.
One of the best experiences was the Pyramid Scheme 2.0. It’s muddy and very slippery. You can’t pass easily in this obstacle without help. Kailangan may kasama ka at may tatapakan ka para maabot mo yung naghihintay na tulong sa taas ng obstacle.
For us to accomplish and go through the obstacle, nagkapit-kapit kami ng kamay to form a solid pyramid para makadaan ang lahat at makatawid.
The Pyramid Scheme 2.0 was just one of 10 teamwork-filled obstacles that we went through in the five-kilometer basic category, which was just the easiest of the four categories in the event, which had Merrell as its official footwear.
The next category was the Tough Mudder Half, an eight-kilometer traverse on trails with 13 obstacles, which include Everest, Kiss of Mud, Mud Mile 2.0, Birth Canal, and Skid Marked, among others.
What more for the tougher categories?
Above all, Tough Mudder Philippines clearly sent the message of fellowship to each and everyone. It's more than a physical and strength test.
