Dominance begins at 40 for Manny Pacquiao, after he showed Keith Thurman who’s boss in a split-decision win at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday.
Pacman, the only eight-time world champion, sent his 30-year-old rival crashing to the canvas with a devastating body blow-right hook combo in the first round and never looked back.
Thurman tried to come back in a mid-round slugfest, but Pacquiao, who even employed the Ali Shuffle, didn’t let up.
Glen Feldman was the lone judge to give the fight to Thurman, 115-114, with the other two scoring 115-112 in favor of Manny. The Pambansang Kamao broke the unbeaten streak of Thurman, who has won his first 29 contests.
Local celebrities and TV personalities took to Twittter to give Pacquiao high praise and share their thoughts on the unexpected win via split decision.
Pacman also received praise and playful congratulatory messages from his fellow boxers and fighters.
Just for a day, the NBA and its players had something else to talk about than the crazy offseason.
Same goes for sports analysts like Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless, who had a lot to say about the fight.
