SISI Rondina has been reunited with her family just in time for Game 2 of University of Santo Tomas' UAAP Finals face-off against Ateneo.
Rondina's parents Arnold and Alona as well as sisters Christina, Karen and Criselda arrived after a two-hour delay on Tuesday afternoon at the NAIA Terminal 4.
The reunion was made possible by the collective effort of UST supporters, who chipped in to book the flight and accommodation of the family of the heroine of the Tigresses' straight-sets win in Game 1.
Rondina will be crowned MVP and has the chance to win the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball championship against Ateneo in Game 2 on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“Thankful ako kasi tipong ang goal ko lang talaga is maglaro and syempre para ngumiti rin ‘yung UST community kasi more than enough ‘yung binigay nila sa akin,” said Rondina.
Meanwhile, the parents of another UST player, Dimdim Pacres, also arrived at 2:25 p.m. from Cebu while the family of Alina Bicar arrived from Samar, early Tuesday morning.
Tigresses supporters took to social media to start a fund-raising campaign immediately after they read the story published by sports websites, including SPIN.ph, that Rondina’s parents won’t be able to watch the UAAP finals, due to her sacrifice of buying a house and lot in Compostela, Cebu.
